    Equine Posture Balance and Hoof Care Courses  
 

 

Instructed by the founders of Healthy Stride, Brandon and Jim Crew!

Two levels are offered:
• Level 1 – Healthy Stride Basics for Horse Owners

Level 2 – Healthy Stride for Hoof Care Practitioners (Trimmers & Shoers)

ALSO: Balancing the Barefoot Horse For both the horseowner and hoof care practitioner

Lectures and Hands-on Practice include:
• Principles of Healthy Stride Equine Posture Balancing
• Evaluation of the horse's movement and posture
• Basic equine anatomy and biomechanics
• Achieving balance through the use of orthotics, trimming and shoeing
• Using the tools of the trade (+ a visit to the local farrier supply)
• Field trip to local ranches with a variety of horse breeds and disciplines
• How to trim the hoof, apply hoof casting, orthotics, Vettec products and/or shoes to achieve posture balance

Classes run 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with lunch breaks.

Additional lecture time will be in the evenings. On the last day, class is dismissed at 3:00 pm.

Level 1 – Healthy Stride Basics for Horse Owners (BHO)

 
   

This course is for horse owners and equine practitioners wanting to learn the basics of hoof care and posture balance to fill in the gaps between their regular farrier visits. It is also for those wishing to begin a career as a practicing farrier, trimmer or hoof care professional. This course is the beginning of your Healthy Stride journey!

There are no pre-requisites for this course other than to have safe horsehandling skills and a desire to learn.

Tools will be provided by the school. There will also be a visit to a local farrier supply if you wish to purchase your own tools.

 
   

Level 2 – Healthy Stride for Hoof Care Practitioners (HCP)

 
    This course is designed for practicing hoof care professionals (Farriers or Barefoot Trimmers and Hoof Groomers). Students will add Healthy Stride principles and practices to their skill set.

Tools will be provided by the school. You are welcome to bring your own hand tools and apron. There will also be a visit to a local farrier supply if you wish to purchase your own tools.
 
   

NEW! – Balancing the Barefoot Horse (BBH)

 
    For both horseowners and the barefoot hoof care practitioner. Learn how to keep the barefoot horse in balance using Healthy Stride principles.

Tools will be provided by the school. You are welcome to bring your own hand tools and apron. There will also be a visit to a local farrier supply if you wish to purchase your own tools.

Tuition, Lodging and Meals

 
    Level 2 and the Barefoot Courses
Tuition is $500.00 per week. A deposit of $175.00 will hold your space.* Balance must be paid 1 week prior to class start date.

Level 1 BHO Courses
Tuition is $450.00 for the 3 day course. A deposit of $150.00 will hold your space.* Balance must be paid 1 week prior to class start date.

Lodging is available for Healthy Stride students at a special rate of $39.95 for single occupancy and $49.95 for double at the Howard Johnson in Ocala at 3951 Northwest Bonnie Heath Blvd. Call 352-629-7021 to arrange your stay and ask for the Healthy Stride Rate. Please note: If you call the 800 number for Howard Johnson, the discount will not apply!

Travel, accommodations and meals are the responsibility of the student.
